On a visit to Qatar to discuss the evaluation of Qatar population policy with the Ministry, UNFPA met DIFI to discover ways of cooperation in the areas related to population and development, youth, women research and partnership as well as sharing expertise.

Miss Noor Almalki, Executive Director of DIFI, explained that the mission of the Institute is to both inform and influence family policy-making through the development and support of policy oriented-research as well as policy advocacy and outreach initiatives.

On the other hand, UNFPA Regional Director, Mohammed Abdul Ahed, provided a brief note on the purpose of the mission organized by UNFPA to Qatar to discuss potential cooperation opportunities in programs related to Qatar vision 2030. He highlighted the unique role of DIFI in focusing on family policy and policy-related research to inform or influence policy-making in the region. He also expressed appreciation for being invited as a key note speaker at the dynamic population seminar held in December 2013 and the importance of holding such events to tackle population issues and provide evidence-based recommendations.

DIFI and UNFPA have proposed ways of cooperation in the development of DIFI report on the State of Arab Family and discussed the development of regional meeting, in collaboration with the League of Arab States, to provide a platform for discussion on family and population issues in the light of post 2015 development agenda.
