Lara Hussein, Director Policy Division
Mrs. Lara Hussein, the Director of Family Policy of the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Lara is a development professional with more than 15 years of experience in policy development, policy advocacy, and in managing International development programs in areas related to social development with a particular emphasis on family policy, education, child rights and early childhood development. She worked with the United Nations, policy think tanks, and International NGOs contributing to innovative policies, leading multi-disciplinary teams, and managing grants for complex multi-country programs.
Lara has a Master degree in Education from Huddersfield University of UK, a Bachelor Degree in Administrative Sciences from Yarmouk University of Jordan and a Certificate in Leadership development from INSEAD University of France. She worked with UNICEF Gulf Area Office as Chief of Child Protection, with the Jordanian National Council for Family Affairs as Deputy Secretary General and with the World Family Organization as the Vice-President of Family Policy.
Lara coordinated the preparation of several research projects and situation assessments on children, women and family in MENA countries, and based on research evidence led the development of national strategies such as the National Jordanian Strategy of the Family, National Childhood Strategy of Bahrain, national childhood strategy of the United Arab Emirates, national Jordanian plan of action for children and the National Jordanian Elderly Strategy. Lara contributed to the “Social Welfare Component” of the National Jordanian Agenda and has recently assisted the Ministry of Social Development of Oman in developing the “Family and Community Development Component” of the Strategy of Social Work.
Lara has established networks of strategic alliances and created multi-stakeholder partnerships, she coordinated among Government agencies, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, the private sector, academia, parliamentarians and International organizations in discussing and influencing children and family sensitive policies and legislations.
Dr. Anis Ben Brik, Senior Lead Researcher
Dr. Anis Ben Brik, Senior Lead Researcher at the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Graduated from London School of Economics and Political Science, Anis is acknowledged social policy expert. He has 10 years’ experience working in social research and policy. He has served as policy advisor and researcher to different government entities in the UAE. Anis taught sociology courses at the UAE University and his publications have appeared in international journals. Before joining DIFI, he has served as president Middle East at the Eneref Institute, a research and advocacy organization based in the US.
